Bridget Jones has never looked better.
Renée Zellweger brightened up the red carpet at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, clad in a hot pink off-the-shoulder mini dress by Lela Rose ($US2250) with puffed sleeves and crystal embellishments.
The 50-year-old Oscar winner, whose face (and alleged plastic surgery) has been the subject of public fascination for years, looked lovely and youthful at the event, finishing her look with a playful ponytail and natural, rosy make-up.
Zellweger, who will star as Judy Garland in the biopic Judy later this year, typically opts for classic black dresses for red carpet events. But as she’s proved time and time again — like at the 2001 and 2003 Oscars, where she stunned in lemon vintage Jean Dessès and ruby Carolina Herrera respectively — the actress can pull off bolder looks with flying colours.
Next up, the 50-year-old fronts the British BBC Films drama Judy, which focuses on the year of 1968 when Garland, a bona fide icon at this point, arrives in London for a run of sellout shows following years of turmoil, including several suicide attempts and drug problems.
It will detail her struggle with addiction and lack of motivation to go on stage and perform, as she battles to make money to support her two children.
Hitting cinemas in September, Judy is directed by Rupert Goold and also features Michael Gambon, Rufus Sewell and Gemma-Leah Devereux.
