Prince Harry laid bare his heart wrenching loss with a touching tribute to Princess Diana as Britain celebrated Mother’s Day.
The Duke of Sussex arranged for flowers to be laid on his mother’s grave at Althorp, Northamptonshire.
The stately home, which has been in the Spencer family since 1508, was Princess Diana’s final resting place.
In a sign of how the rift from his family has hurt Prince Harry, a spokesperson for the California-based royal had arranged for the floral tribute to be left in honour of his mother, who died in 1997.
Prince Harry’s gesture comes as Prince William honoured his mother, with his children writing cards addressed to “Granny Diana”.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis made bright and colourful homemade Mother’s Day cards that touched hearts.
They used crayons and textas to honour the grandmother they were never able to meet.
The cards showed of two-year-old Louis’ handwriting as he signed his name.
Prince William and Kate shared them with a poignant message, noting how hard the pandemic had been because of the separation it had caused in families.
“This year Mother’s Day will be different once again,” the couple said.
“Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again.
“But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging.
“Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William.”
“Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day”.
The children’s cards show optimistic drawings featuring sunshine, love hearts, and cut outs of little forest animals, insects and flowers.
On Charlotte’s card she mentions that “Papa [William] is missing you [Diana].”
The brothers’ decision to publicly honour their mother shows how close, and how far apart they are.
Princess Eugenie, 30, also marked Mother’s Day, with a new photograph of her four-week son August.
The baby boy, whose face was to the side, was laying in a field of daffodils, which are in full bloom in gardens across the UK as spring hits.
“I’m so excited to be August’s mum and as you can see I’m enjoying my first Mother’s Day,” she wrote on Instagram.
And she posted a picture of her mum, Sarah Ferguson, featuring some classic shoulder pad fashion.
“I’m also celebrating my beautiful Mumma with this picture of us from March 1990. You’ve taught me so much,” she said.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all.”
Princes Harry and William remain due to unveil a memorial statue in honour of Princess Diana on July 1, but there are questions about whether Prince Harry will be able to make the trip.
He should have had a COVID-19 jab by then, but his attendance may hinge on whether he can find some common ground with his brother.
In Prince Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey they accused the Royal Family of racism and neglecting Meghan when she was on the verge of suicide.
The Queen responded by saying “recollections may vary” but left the door ajar for a reconciliation.
However, Buckingham Palace then hired independent lawyers to probe bullying complaints against Meghan made by staff members.
Prince Charles posted a picture of the Queen for Mother’s Day, and his wife, Camilla, made a public tribute to her mother Rosalind Shand.

QUEEN, CHARLES PAY TOUCHING TRIBUTE
A black and white photograph taken one day before Elizabeth’s fourteenth birthday shows the future monarch dressed casually in a jumper and smiling at her mum at Royal Lodge in Windsor during WWII.
The Queen posted the image on the Royal Family Instagram account with the message:
“To all Mums everywhere, we wish you a very special Mother’s Day.”
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales, 72, posted photo of himself and his mum attending the Braemar Highland Games in Scotland in 2010.
The photo shows Queen Elizabeth touching her son affectionately as they have a good laugh about something.
Scrolling to the next image revealed a photo of a smiling Camilla with her mother, Rosalind Shand.
It comes as senior royals have weathered allegations which were aired publicly by Meghan Markle during her top-rating interview with Oprah Winfrey, including claims of racism towards her and her son, Archie.
