‘He’s gone too far’: Londoners react to Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir

Prince Harry’s continual ‘ambushing’ of the Royal Family, adversely affected the Queen’s health in her final year, it’s claimed, with The Firm locked in crisis talks over how to deal with the explosive revelations in the Prince of Sussex’s new book.

With the Royals under siege over a series of damaging leaks from Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare, last year’s repeated attacks from him and his wife Meghan Markle, are said to have “had an impact” upon the frail condition of the Queen, who hated confrontation, in the lead up to her death in September.

The Queen was forced to deal with a number of controversial claims – including allegations of racism within the Royal family – in television interviews from the Sussexes and fears of what would be revealed in Prince Harry’s book.

The autobiography, which will be released worldwide on Tuesday, was originally slated to be published last year.

Those close to the late Queen Elizabeth II have no doubt the ongoing drama, had a detrimental effect on the monarch in her final weeks and months.

“This did have an impact on the Queen’s health in her final year. It did take its toll,” an inside source told London’s The Telegraph.

As a “much loved grandson” of the Queen, the “almost weekly” attacks were especially painful, it has been claimed.

Senior royals, locked in crisis talks after digesting the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell memoir that exposes personal family rifts, are “seething” they cannot address the public fallout.

Buckingham Palace aides and insiders have revealed leaks from the 570-plus page autobiography Spare, due to be published worldwide on Tuesday, are “far, far, far more damaging” than had been anticipated.

The book, already on sale in Spain, details a physical altercation between Prince Harry and Prince William over “abrasive” Ms Markle, denounces Princess Kate for complaining over a comment about hormones that resulted in the Princess of Sussex being vilified by Prince William and berates King Charles for not hugging him when revealing his mother Diana had died.

It also brands Camilla, Queen Consort, a “wicked stepmother” who leaks to the press and reveals all of what’s behind the bitter rift between the Princess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales.

King Charles, Prince William, Princess Kate and Camilla have been left saddened by the claims but have agreed to stick to the palace motto of “never complain, never explain.”

“All of them have been royally hammered in the book and the word is they have been poring over its pages and have been left feeling betrayed, saddened and hurt – yet they have vowed not to address the row publicly, even though they are seething about what's been written,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told News Corp Australia.

“It’s frustrating but to do so would turn everything into a circus show.

“The book is far, far, far more damaging than the royal family had feared, despite its title Spare, which suggests Prince Harry always felt left out and was unhappy living in his brother’s shadow.

“Everyone gets a grenade, the book is deliberately nasty, the Sussexes always want to control the narrative and we don’t know what’s yet to come with the televised interviews on Sunday in the US and Britain.

“That might change the palace decision to remain silent for now.”

Prince Harry has given promotional interviews to journalist friends Tom Bradby of Britain’s ITV and US anchor Anderson Cooper for CBS which will both air on Sunday.

The book details at extraordinary length Harry’s experiences on cocaine and hallucinogenic magic mushrooms so he could “feel better and see the truth”, his battle with PTSD triggered by his mother’s death in a car crash in Paris in 1997 and his time in military service in Afghanistan when he admits to killing 25 Taliban insurgents.

He also confesses to “deeply inhaling” laughing gas to settle his nerves at the birth of his first born Archie at London’s Portland Hospital in 2019.

One excerpt details the heartbreaking last chuckle he had with the dying Queen over the phone where they joked about the unseasonal drought that prompted Harry to liken the dry grass to his head – “bald with patches”.

He reveals the King blames himself for his son’s protracted battles with PTSD by offering him professional help too late.

“I’m so sorry, I suppose it’s all my fault, I should have gotten you help years ago,” he says the King replied when he revealed he suffered panic and anxiety attacks.

The renegade royal, who left the royal family with Ms Markle, in 2020, says the King told him there was not enough money for him to marry and William warned him not to get engaged after a year of dating, saying he was moving ‘too fast’.

The brothers fought when Prince William called Ms Markle “rude,” “difficult” and “abrasive” in a screaming match at his London Nottingham Cottage to discuss their deteriorating relationship.

The former soldier insisted he was scared when his brother “came at me.”

“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” he writes.

“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out”.

Despite the ‘grenades’ launched at the royals, Prince Harry insists he wants a reconciliation but not without “accountability”.
