Prince Harry reveals if he talks to William and Charles

Prince Harry has been pointedly questioned if he “texts” Prince William and King Charles anymore - and his answer was blunt.

Prince Harry to be written out of King Charles’ coronation

Prince Harry has revealed he’s not currently in touch with his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles III.

In his explosive sit-down interview with Anderson Cooper for US’ 60 Minutes program, the Duke of Sussex said it had been “a while” since he’d spoken to them.

Here is the rather blunt exchange:

A: Do you speak to William, do you text?

H: Currently, no.

A: How long has it been?

H: A while.

A: Your dad?

H: We haven’t spoken for quite a while. Not recently.

It comes after revealed how his decision not to shave his signature beard on his wedding day drove an even greater wedge between he and William.

In the Duke’s ITV interview with Tom Bradby, which aired Monday morning, the 38-year-old detailed several factors that caused his well-publicised estrangement from his older brother.

And in what will likely surprise royal fans, Harry claimed the pair have shared a years-long “sibling rivalry”, and weren’t always as close as what the public thought.

He further claimed William “didn’t want anything to do with me” when they went to Eton College together as teens.

Bradby, who has known Harry for 20 years, said he could sense Harry’s “deep love” for his brother in the memoir Spare, which is officially released on January 10 but has already been leaked.

Harry answered, “Love … But also separation, which I think will really surprise people.

“We grew up, and mother was dressing us in the same clothes. William didn’t like that, I found it quite funny.

He added, “The older/younger sibling rivalry now is only really becoming real to me. For instance, I talk about the relationship between William and myself at Eton and he didn’t want to know me.”

That “competition” continued into adulthood, and came to a head when William, 40, reportedly became incensed that the Queen allowed Harry to keep his beard at his 2018 wedding – while William was told to shave his for his 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton.

“Writing this [book], I remembered that William had a beard himself and Granny told him he had to shave it off. The difference for me was this beard, that I’m still wearing [today], felt to me at the time like the ‘New Harry’. Like a shield to my anxiety. That was the time of my life when I grew my beard.

“And I think William found it hard that other people told him to shave it off and yet here I was on my wedding day …

“I said, ‘Well I don’t believe Meghan’s going to recognise me if I’m beardless. And I would feel different without my beard.’”

Further elaborating on the incident in his memoir, Harry wrote, “At one point he [William] actually ordered me, as the ‘heir’ speaking to the ‘spare,’ to shave.

“He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he’d been denied.”

Bradby’s incredible 90-minute interview with Harry marked the first time the Duke had been grilled following his multiple public allegations against the royal family since moving to the US in early 2020.

When the British journalist asked if he’d like to say anything directly to William, Harry said he wasn’t “going to share” that personal information, but added he doesn’t think his brother or father, King Charles III, would read the book.

“I really hope they do, but I don’t think they will,” Harry said. “And with regards to this interview, I don’t know whether they’re watching this or not. [But] what they have to say to me will be in private, and I hope it can stay that way.

“[William] would probably say all sorts of different things. [But] the level of planting and leaking means that in my mind, they have written countless books.”

Harry also said he believed there was a “100 per cent” chance of reconciliation with his family down the track, but up until this point, “they’ve shown no willingness to reconcile.”

When Bradby questioned Harry how that was possible given the extraordinary personal detail in his memoir, Harry said, “I’m not sure how honesty is burning bridges.”

He added, “Silence only allows the abuser to abuse. So I don’t know how staying silent is going to make things better.

“That’s genuinely what I believe.”
