PRINCE Harry has revealed he “wanted out” as a Royal — and instead just wanted to lead an ordinary life.

The 32-year-old admitted he struggled with his privileged status as a youngster and struggled to find a meaningful role for himself after he left the Army, The Sun reports.

In an interview with journalist Angela Levin for Newsweek magazine, Harry said: “I didn’t want to grow up.

“I felt I wanted out but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself.”

He said he enjoyed the Army because it allowed him to escape his royal status.

“I wasn’t a prince I was just Harry,” he said. “It was the best escape I ever had.”

Harry said that it took him some time to come to terms with what being in the monarchy means and sought counselling to help him figure out what he wanted.

“I am determined to have a relatively normal life and if I am lucky enough to have children they can have one too.

“We don’t just want to be a bunch of celebrities but instead use our role for good.

“We want to make sure the monarchy lasts and are passionate about what it stands for.”

Harry is now fifth in line to the throne behind William and Kate’s children.

He said: “The reason I am now fifth is because of my nephew and niece and I could never wish them away.

“They are the most amazing things ever.”

And when it comes to actually taking the throne, Prince Harry revealed none of the royal family actually want the top job.

“Is there any one of the Royal Family who wants to be King or Queen? I don’t think so,” he said, “but we will carry out our duties at the right time.”
