Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly set to bombard the late Queen with a charm offensive to heal their rift with the royals.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly planned to target the Queen with a charm offensive before she died.

According to The Sun, the Sussexes planned to make amends with the rest of the royal family in a “rift-healing mission” in 2023.

But their plans were derailed when Her Majesty tragically died last month, The Sun said.

A royal insider told The Sun: “Next year 2023 was to be their reconciliation year.”

Another said: “They have always been careful to not criticise the monarch. They have always tried to be respectful to the Queen.

“But the Queen has now died and Charles and Camilla are the King and Queen.

“Clearly, this reconciliation attempt would never work if they have been critical of the new monarch, or both.”

Royal author Robert Jobson told The Sun: “Their timing is appalling as always.

“It is also completely arrogant because they are assuming they can win back the trust of Harry’s father and brother.

“But that trust has gone forever. Harry and Meghan will never be looked at the same.

“Harry needs to remember he is now dealing with the Head of State — not just his dad.

“If they disrespect The King, they are not only disrespecting the man, but also the institution.”

The Sun reports that the Sussexes have cut ties with Hollywood PR outfit Sunshine Sachs, suggesting a clear change of tack.

The proposed royal charm offensive would have followed the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell memoirs - due out next month.

The $29m tell-all book promises to tell an “accurate and wholly truthful” story of the Prince’s life.

The Sun reports that Prince Harry is now “desperately making last-minute changes” to the “explosive” memoir following his grandmother’s death.

It comes amid claims the House of Sussex has reportedly been left in a “panic” after Netflix refused to “tone down” their upcoming docuseries following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The pair have even clashed with their own production team in the attempt to “walk back” allegations against the royal family in the wake of the Queen’s death, according to Netflix sources.

“Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” the Netflix source told NYP.

“They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided - to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely.”
