Royals: Prince Harry has picked up a US ‘twang’ as couple reportedly film New York trip for new doco

A royal commentator has revealed the factors in Prince Harry’s performance at the Global Citizen Live concert that show his ‘Americanisation.’

Prince Harry appears to have picked up an American twang and tried to be a “rock star” at the Global Citizens Live, according to a body language expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took turns with the mic as they preached to millions watching the event across the world about the need to ensure vaccines were shared with third world countries.

Body language guru Judi James told The Sun Harry showed signs of “showboating” as he tried to egg on the crowds, but he was a “warm up” act to the star of the show, Meghan Markle.

Ms James said: “Despite the rather smart suit he clearly decided to take to the stage in the style of a US rock concert emcee, with his rather self-conscious-looking revving up of the crowd.”

She pointed out that Harry appeared to be sounding more American as he lengthened words such as New York City.

She explained: “His prolonged shout-outs of words like ‘Thank yeeew…’ to ‘New York Citaaaay…’ showed a love of Americanisation in his performances now and he even cupped his hand to his ear in an attempt to work the crowd by egging them on to respond.

“This showboating should have come with body language follow-up rituals of confidence but instead he became a warm-up man to the real star, Meghan.”

HARRY AND MEGHAN ‘SECRETLY FILMING’ NYC VISIT

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been secretly taping their whirlwind New York visit for a rumoured Netflix documentary about their lives.

The Sussexes brought their own videographer with them as they visited the UN headquarters and appeared onstage at the Global Citizen Live concert in Central Park.

The videographer was seen filming them as they visited the 9/11 Memorial and the pair also brought their own photographer, Matt Sayles, to document them throughout their visit, the Post reports.

Prince Harry reportedly appeared to be wearing a mic during his visit with his wife to the iconic Harlem soul food eatery Melba.

The Post reports the Duke of Sussex had a wire around his neck, which was then seen tucked into the pocket of his chinos as he hugged restaurant owner Melba Wilson.

Speculation has been mounting as to why Meghan Markle was wearing heavy winter coats during her visit despite the hot weather.

The New York Post is claiming that the Duchess’s long coats concealed the fact she was wearing a mic.

The eco warriers, who have now jetted back to California on a private jet, signed a lucrative deal with streaming giant Netflix in 2020 worth a reported US$100 million (AUD$131 million).

The couple have attracted criticism during their New York visit for staying at the $8000 a night Carlyle Hotel and getting lifts in gas-guzzling SUVs as they campaigned for “vaccine equity”.

During their visit, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hailed the world’s “humanitarian heroes” as they addressed the crowd at the star-studded concert in Central Park on Sunday, with Prince Harry telling fans the fight against the pandemic was “a battle of misinformation, bureaucracy and lack of transparency”.

After walking on stage hand-in-hand, Prince Harry asked the audience: “Are you ready to do what’s necessary to end this pandemic?”

The crowd erupted when Meghan, dressed in a white Valentino shift mini dress, took the microphone.

“Hi, everybody. It is so good to be back here with all of you,’ she said.

“We know that it feels like this pandemic has been going on forever. We get it. It’s been a lot, and some people are just over it.

“But if everyone is over it, it’s never going to be over with. There’s so much we can do today that can get us closer to ending this pandemic, and that’s why we’re all here.

“We are able to be here tonight because the most brilliant scientists, researchers, frontline workers and selfless public health leaders have risked their lives to protect our global community. They are our humanitarian heroes.”

Prince Harry said the pair had been meeting with leaders during their New York trip to discuss “vaccine equity”.

‘Since this pandemic began, we’ve been asking how we can do our part,” he said.

“This week, we sat with independent world health leaders to further understand how to get closer to vaccine equity and ending this health crisis.

‘But we’re battling more than the virus. This is a battle of misinformation, bureaucracy and lack of transparency.”

The pair had arrived at Central Park’s Grand Lawn under tight security before their appearance.

The concert’s themes are combating climate change, famine and poverty, and the redistribution of one billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines to nations most in need.

From Billie Eilish in New York to BTS in Seoul and Elton John in Paris, Global Citizen Live is one of the biggest-ever international charity events with a bill of more than 60 artists in London, Lagos, Rio, Sydney, Mumbai and beyond.

Aussie star Delta Goodrem is taking part in the global event and will perform at the Sydney Opera House.

The concert will be broadcast globally for a full 24 hours.

Eilish, Coldplay and Jennifer Lopez will perform in Central Park, Stevie Wonder will play in Los Angeles, while Ed Sheeran will headline in Paris alongside Elton John, Black Eyed Peas and Stormzy.

Earlier, the Sussexes visited the United Nations headquarters to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during the 193-member world body’s annual gathering of global leaders.

It comes as Harry and Meghan paid a visit to a legendary Harlem eatery on Friday, local time, where Prince Harry apparently tried chicken and waffles for the first time, and the couple also donated a substantial sum.

The Duke and Duchess enjoyed a soul food lunch at Melba’s in South Harlem, after Meghan read to children at P. S. 123 Mahalia Jackson School.

The couple then donated $25,000 ($A34,400) to the restaurant’s employee relief fund, which directly aids freelance employees who were impacted by the pandemic.

Earlier in the week the couple visited the World Trade Centre 9/11 memorial and paid respects to the victims of the 2001 September 11 terror attacks.

The pair’s two children, Archie and Lilibet , have not joined them on the New York trip and are believed to be back home at their mansion in Montecito, north of Los Angeles.
