Prince Charles and Harry in ‘secret talks’ to mend royal rift before Queen’s Jubilee

Prince Harry could return to the UK alone after talks with Charles, who worries his son’s book will be an “excoriating take-down” of Camilla.

Prince Harry has been in “secret talks” with Prince Charles in a bid to heal their rift before the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Royal sources said that Harry reached out to his father in a bid to return to the United Kingdom after claims he would be denied police security the visit, according to The Sun.

“There has been a definite thaw in relations between Harry and Charles. They are on much better terms and have been having friendly chats and video calls,” a source said.

“It has been suggested to Harry he may live to regret any lingering family bitterness, and he has taken that on board.

“There is a feeling he is coming back more into the fold and wants to be closer to his family.”

The Royals are expecting Harry to return from his California home for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, but it could be without Meghan, 40, Archie, two, and seven-month-old Lilibet.

It is not yet clear if Harry, 37, will return for Prince Philip’s memorial, expected in March or April. Buckingham Palace was approached for comment.

The Prince of Wales is said to have invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to stay with him amid their ongoing security concerns.

But privately Charles has told aides he worries his younger son’s shock book will be an “excoriating take-down” of the Duchess of Cornwall — particularly in the early years of the couple’s romance.

A royal source told The Sun: “Forget the Prince Andrew saga, the main topic of discussion at Clarence House is Harry’s book — and the reputational damage it could very well do.

“There are concerns about Harry’s recollections of Camilla’s entry into the Royal Family, and how her long-running romance with Charles damaged him from a young age.

“There are concerns about Harry’s recollections of Camilla’s entry into the Royal Family, and how her long-running romance with Charles damaged him from a young age.

“Harry is fiercely loyal and protective of his late mother and her legacy, and didn’t approve of Camilla sweeping in as the great love of his father’s life.

“Understandably he found those early years incredibly difficult, and he might publicly blame Camilla for much of what he believes went wrong in his childhood, and the trauma the whole situation caused.

“Charles is deeply protective of Camilla. The last thing he needs — especially in a year of celebration that should be all about the Queen — is an excoriating take-down of Camilla at a time when people have finally taken her to their hearts.”
