PIPPA Middleton and her new husband, James Matthews, have touched down at a Los Angeles airport, less than 24 hours after tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in England.
Pippa, in a Kate Spade jacket, was spotted chatting with fellow travellers as she made her way through customs on Monday. The couple travelled with a bodyguard for added security.
“They were happy but tired,” an onlooker told E! News, “and people around them were definitely staring and wondering if it was really Pippa.”
BUCKING TRADITION: Markle’s wedding fashion faux pas
The Daily Mail first published the photos on Monday, reporting the newlyweds stopped in LA on their way to the Pacific Islands for their honeymoon.
The Mail reports the couple is heading to Tetiaroa, a private hideaway once owned by actor Marlon Brando.
He fell in love with the island (and local beauty, 19-year-old Tarita Teriipaia, whom he married) while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in French Polynesia and purchased it as the ultimate retreat from Hollywood.
It has since been converted into a super-luxury hotel where you can stay in for about $4000 a night — the price tag includes all food, beverages, a spa treatment per guest and most activities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TETIAROA
According to tahiti.com, the private island “is a retreat fit for royalty. Once considered a playground for the wealthy, this atoll served as a summer residence for the former chiefs and kings of Tahiti.
“After many years of being inaccessible to the general public, a new eco-friendly, ultra-luxurious resort, The Brando, has changed that.”
Its 35 thatched villas each have an outdoor bath, an infinity pool and a rocking chair for two, with seawater airconditioning, solar electricity and generators running on coconut oil.
And getting there is half the fun. It is 60km north of the island of Tahiti and to get there, you take a 20-minute private plane flight from Papeete, Tahiti.
