Pete Evans is set to appear in a controversial new TV interview, which has some Australians calling for it to be axed before it airs.
Evans has been interviewed for Sunday night’s 60 Minutes program on the subject of coronoavirus pandemic conspiracy theories.
The current affairs show posted a teaser video online (watch above) with the title “Coronavirus mind games”, and asked the question: “Are dangerous theories just as contagious as the virus?”
In the segment, Evans can be seen saying: “I am sceptical, and I also am suspicious.
“If I disappear, or having a fricking weird accident, it wasn’t an accident.”
Evans shared the video with his followers, saying he had also taped the entire interview he did with 60 Minutes reporter Liz Hayes, who he spent two days with for the segment.
“I don’t have free to air tv, but I did tape the whole 2 hour interview so I will be sharing it on the night!,” he said.
Many on social media have called for the program to not run the segment.
I remember when #60MinutesAustralia used to be better! I wonder what the tipping point was that drove #PeteEvans off the deep end, as I do for #LizHayes for doing this story! Shelve it! Canât believe youâre giving him oxygen! What happened to Critical Thinking / Logic? https://t.co/OHmB07VXeB

So @60Mins just doesnât care any more that itâs the TV equivalent of Womanâs Day? Kyle Sandilands one week, Pete Evans this week. Itâs been bad for years but this is now getting pretty silly.

Others showed their support for Evans, telling him his “narrative” would be “twisted” by the TV network.
One person write: “Pete thanks to the 60 minutes ad, I immediately checked out your Facebook site and see that you are being crucified for everything I believe in. Please I would love to find out more of you in regards to your research and who you are following around the world.”
Another wrote: “We have created a movement that is being feared. We have a voice and will not be silenced, thanks Pete, we stand with you.”
Evans also told fans: “I had a great chat with Liz, she was very open and very helpful in the two days we spent together - I have nothing but nice things to say about the way she treated me and the crew were awesome to work with. how it ends up is another story, but I am willing to stand in my truth xo”
It comes after Evans shocked fans this week by sharing what appears to be a supportive post for US president Donald Trump.
On Tuesday morning, after the President made a speech in Washington, D.C., in which he promised to send out the military if peaceful protesters couldn’t be dispersed, Pete Evans shared a video of Trump’s speech to his Instagram accompanied with a heart.
Earlier, Evans shared one of Mr Trump’s Twitter posts to Instagram, accompanied with the caption, “TRUTH @realdonaldtrump. I invite you to question your beliefs no matter how strongly you hold them … or not .#thegreatawakening #unitedwestand”
These posts have been viewed by many as one step too far for the controversial former host on My Kitchen Rules, who is well known for his anti-vaccination stance and is disparaging of the mainstream media.
“Are you f*****g serious Pete Evans?” said one.
“I have no respect left for you Pete!” wrote another. “How can you agree with him when black people don’t have the same rights?!”
Others were supportive of Pete’s post.
“Thanks for showing the info Chef,” wrote one.
“About time,” wrote another.
In the past weeks, Evans has also made clear on social media that he thinks coronavirus is a hoax, the death toll of the pandemic is overblown and the mainstream media is feeding everyone lies.
He believes we need to flatten the curve of autism, not coronavirus, and links coronavirus infections to 5G antenna installations.
Evans also shared a message to his Instagram stories on Tuesday, writing, “With the wave of a wand the media diverted your attention from a ‘deadly’ pandemic to racial riots, and you didn’t even stop to notice.”
“Do not mistake rioters with protesters, there is plenty of evidence showing you that the riots were instigated by organisations affiliated with the elite.”
