Partner of Nick Cave’s troubled late son, Jethro, breaks silence

The girlfriend of Nick Cave’s son, Jethro Lazenby, who was found dead at the age of 30, has broken her silence and hit out at his famous family.

The on-and-off partner of Nick Cave’s late son, Jethro Lazenby, has broken her silence on his shock death, denying that his death was the result of suicide and revealing she wasn’t invited to his funeral.

The 30-year-old was found dead inside the Coburg Motor Inn in Melbourne’s north earlier this month.

The model and actor, who lived in Melbourne, had been released from prison two days before his death.

His on-and-off girlfriend of six years, Danica Conwell, spoke to the Daily Mail about his passing, admitting she’s “not doing well”.

Conwell said she’s “not doing well” in the wake of Lazenby’s death.

Lazenby had been dealing with personal issues in recent years.

“Unfortunately I wasn’t invited to the funeral … His family won’t allow me closure and I really f**king need it,” she said.

“I’m not doing well with this at all and that’s what wakes are for to say goodbye, help closure on the mourning process … It’s evil to deny someone this.”

Conwell also dispelled reports he may have taken his own life, insisting he “loved life”.

“Jethro was vibrant, passionate. He played piano amazingly and wrote great gothic poetry,” she said.

“He lived a fantastic life and I loved him … He had a lot to live for.”

Conwell added: “He was definitely more than he showed most people. He was hard to get close to … A higher being in so many ways. But his shadow plagued him.”

Lazenby’s death marked the second tragedy for Cave, who lost his 15-year-old son Arthur Cave in a tragic cliff fall just seven years ago.

In a statement released shortly after his death, the Australian singer – best known as the frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – said: “With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away. We would be grateful for family privacy at this time.”

Jethro – the son of model Beau Lazenby – had faced personal problems for some years amid a struggle with his mental health.

In April, he was jailed for assaulting his mother after a court heard he kneed her in the face during an argument.
