Oprah surprised that Meghan Markle went ‘all the way there’ with racism claims

Oprah Winfrey has revealed her explosive interview with Meghan Markle dropped a bombshell even she didn’t expect.

Oprah Winfrey says she had no idea her revealing interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be so explosive — and she was surprised that Markle “went all the way there” by accusing the royals of racial bias.

According to the New York Post, the 67-year-old media maven opened up about the March broadcast to American TV host and journalist Nancy O’Dell.

“I had no idea that it would have the reverberating impact that it has had and continues to have,” the talk show queen said.

“Our shared intention was the truth. They wanted to be able to tell their story and tell it in such a way that allowed them to be as truthful as possible,” Winfrey revealed.

The media mogul said she was “surprised” when the biracial Duchess of Sussex said that royals had raised concerns over the darkness of baby Archie’s skin.

“What? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there,” Winfrey exclaimed to O’Dell.

“The reason why it was such a powerful interview … was when you have somebody else who is willing to be as open, as vulnerable, as truthful as they were,” she told O’Dell.

It comes as Prince Harry was spotted back in California having what appeared to be a networking lunch.

He was seen dining at a Hollywood power spot with the queen of Los Angeles philanthropy, Wallis Annenberg — rather than being in England where his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, celebrated her 95th birthday, sources exclusively told The Post’s Page Six.

Harry and Annenberg were seen having lunch at super-exclusive San Vicente Bungalows. The venue describes itself on its Instagram account as a “Private membership club. By nomination only.”

A source said, “They sat outside, far from other people, and Harry came in wearing a mask.”

The royal family and the Annenberg family share a rich history: Wallis’ father, Walter Annenberg, was the US ambassador to the UK under President Richard Nixon from 1969 to 1974.

Wallis, 81, heads her family’s multibillion-dollar Annenberg Foundation. The Annenberg Centre for the Performing Arts is where Vanity Fair traditionally holds its glitzy Oscars party.

There has been speculation over whether Harry would stay in the UK for the Queen’s 95th birthday, days after he’d attended the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip.

But the Duke of Sussex wanted to return home to his heavily pregnant wife, Meghan Markle — banned by doctors from joining him in the UK — and their son, Archie.

He flew back on Tuesday on a commercial flight and headed back to his Montecito, California estate to be reunited with his family.
