Neighbours star Jason Donovan helps woman who collapsed in London

Everybody needs good neighbours — just ask the woman Jason Donovan stopped to help in her time of need.

Jason Donovan made a name for himself starring on Neighbours, and it seems the former soap star hasn’t forgotten the show’s message.

The actor was out for a jog in London’s Notting Hill on Wednesday when he spotted a woman collapsed on the pavement.

The 50-year-old rushed to the woman’s aide and was seen on the phone appearing to take instructions from an emergency services operator.

When paramedics arrived, Donovan stayed with the woman, holding her hand as she was examined by the ambulance workers.

A witness told The Sun: “The woman was in a bit of a state.

“Jason was with her for around 15 minutes until the paramedics arrived. He stayed with her while they treated her on the pavement, but the other bystanders left.

“It looked like he was on the phone to (UK emergency number) 999 while they were waiting.

“I think he went home to get some ice because he was holding a bag of it against her cheek.

“She had a very nasty, large bruise from where she had fallen.”

The bystander added Donovan then shook the woman’s hand and gave her a “big and encouraging” smile as paramedics helped her into the ambulance.

But despite his help, Donovan told The Sun: “I’m no hero. I did what any responsible citizen would have done. I just wanted to help someone in need.”

The woman’s fall occurred just metres away from Donovan’s $10.9 million London townhouse.

While Donovan now calls the UK home, the actor rose to fame playing Scott Robinson on Neighbours from 1986 to 1989.

During that time Donovan’s character famously married Kylie Minogue’s character Charlene, with their wedding episode one of the most watched TV events of all time.

After Neighbours Donovan moved to the UK where he has had a successful career as a singer and musical theatre star.
