'Mum would be proud of my marriage', Bobbi Kristina Brown says about marriage to 'brother' Nick Gordon

WHITNEY Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has opened up about her marriage to "brother" Nick Gordon, calling him her "backbone".

Speaking to The Sun, Bobbi Kristina said that romance blossomed between the pair after her mother died of a drug overdose in 2012.

“Losing mum brought us together. Nick has been there for me - he’s my backbone.

"He’s saved my life through such an extremely difficult time. I was very, very low at some points. He’s been everything for me and that means a lot to me," she said.

"If my mother could see me now she would just be so incredibly happy. I can just see her - she’d be running around fussing about the wedding."

But she says she understands why the relationship has shocked many, given Gordon was taken in by Houston at the age of 12.

"Out of nowhere, we fell madly in love with each other," she said. "It took us completely by surprise, just like Mum’s death did. Before then, we had lived as best friends, as brother and sister."

There have been widespread reports that Houston family members are concerned that Bobbi Kristina’s marriage could mirror the volatile relationship of her parents.

But she insists her own marriage will be a solid one.

"Being married is one of the greatest feelings. Especially when you know you’re with someone that loves you and will take care of you for the rest of your life because they’ve already taken care of you for as long as you can remember."

Meanwhile, Nick Gordon spoke of his gratitude to Whitney Houston for giving him a home.

"I didn’t have much and Whitney treated me like a son. I called her Mum. I was never adopted by Whitney but she just took me in and treated me like she gave birth to me."
