It’s easily the most outrageous event on the celebrity calendar – and after a year off due to Covid, the Met Gala is back, bigger and even more OTT than ever before.
Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, this year’s theme is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion (a nod to US designers) and is hosted by co-chairs Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood descended on the steps of the Met today for the “Super Bowl of Fashion”, including a regal-looking Lorde, who wore a crown and satin jewelled suit.
The New Zealand singer also boldly chose to go braless for the event.
Timothée Chalamet channelled all of us during a Zoom meeting: formal on top, whatever you want on the bottom.
We need to take a moment to appreciate this iconic entrance: Billie Eilish, take a bow.
The No Time To Die singer delivered classic Marilyn Monroe glam, complete with a white blonde bob haircut.
We knew we could expect big things from rapper Lil Nas X - and he delivered. To all the celebs who wore just one extravagant outfit to this year’s event: take note.

Guys, I’m pretty sure this is Kim Kardashian.
(Also, at this point, it was just shy of 30 degrees celsius in NYC. I’m sweaty just looking at this outfit).
It was only a matter of time: Kendall Jenner brought the naked trend to the Met in a sheer gown embellished with glittering crystals.

Emily Ratajkowski’s dress required her head to stay tilted that way all evening - but it was breathtaking.
Rihanna made a late entrance, wearing an enormous coat.
And there is simply no other way to slice this: her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, was wrapped in a blanket.
He wore a patchwork quilted blanket on the Met Gala red carpet.
Gigi Hadid served Audrey Hepburn class with a beehive hairdo and full-length black gloves.

Pop lovers Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello arrived side-by-side, with Cabello channeling showgirl energy in a purple cut-out gown while Mendes opted to go shirtless, accessorising with a leather jacket and what looked like a jump rope.
We expected some more co-ordination here.
I feel like I should hate Ciara’s neon football jersey-turned-sequinned gown... but.. somehow... it worked.
Frank Ocean brought a truly terrifying plus-one:
Emily Blunt was positively luminous in a sparkling gown splashed with beaded crystals and an angelic star halo.
You’d be forgiven for taking a moment to recognise this star - Maisie Williams has undergone a dramatic makeover since her days as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones.

Megan Fox utterly transformed her look within 24 hours. From a naked red carpet dress at yesterday’s VMAs, to a fiery red beaded masterpiece today.
It’s the bowl cut fringe for us though.
Hailey Bieber played it relatively safe in a strapless black gown, a far-cry from her controversial G-string dress in 2019.
While old Hollywood glamour appeared to be the running trend, Jennifer Lopez interpreted the theme with more of a country-Western take, rocking a figure-hugging brown dress with matching feathered scarf and a cowboy hat.
Momager Kris Jenner arrived in true boss lady style wearing a bold Tom Ford pant suit, as she walked the red carpet with her younger beau, Corey Gamble.

Model and actress Cara Delevingne made a bold statement in her white two-piece outfit, with the words “Peg The Patriarchy” emblazoned across her chest in red.
When asked about it on the red carpet, she replied simply: “It’s about sticking it to the man.”
Riverdale star Lili Reinhart managed to pull off a floral mullet dress, and we must respect that.
Rapper Saweetie looked very relaxed for someone who was simultaneously at risk of about 7 wardrobe malfunctions.

Harvey Weinstein’s ex-wife Georgina Chapman showed up appearing blissfully happy with boyfriend Adrien Brody, whom she’s reportedly been dating for two years.
The couple only went public with their relationship in June.
Something we’ve all learned today - there are “horse people”... and then there are people who literally dress as horses for black tie events.
It could be considered a safe - and boring - choice for the Met Gala, but with Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber looking this incredible, no one’s complaining.

Anna Wintour, the Queen presiding over the Met Gala, was one of the first arrivals.
Her pregnant daughter, Bee Carrozzini (nee Shaffer) looked every inch the daughter of fashion royalty.
Everyone’s favourite brother, Schitt’s Creek co-creator and star Dan Levy, took the theme very seriously, showing up in a literal map of America.
Actress and singer Keke Palmer, who also hosted Vogue’s red carpet coverage, was pure glam in her sparkling backless gown.
US congresswoman and “Equal Rights Amendment” champion Carolyn B. Maloney didn’t shy away from delivering her message.
As well as holding up a large “ERA YES” badge, she also had streamers reading “Rights for Women” draped over her shoulders.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight host Rachel Smith may be the first person in history to pull off the toilet dolly look.
Met Gala co-chair Amanda Gorman, who became an overnight sensation with her stunning original poem at President Biden’s inauguration, looked ethereal in a flowing blue gown.
Brooklyn Beckham and his girlfriend, Nicola Peltz, made a glamorous entrance.
The Met Gala has been organised by Vogue editor Anna Wintour since 1995, and has become a much-loved celebration of fashion which also raises funds – usually around eight figures – for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
It also coincides with the opening of the Museum’s annual fashion exhibition.
