Meghan Markle’s bridal party contenders revealed

HOT socialites mixing with British aristocrats and sporting stars. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is set to break the royal mould.

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding party is likely to be made up of an eclectic mix of young British aristocrats, some fashion types, and possibly even a sporting star.

A likely matron-of- honour is Jessica Mulroney, Ms Markle’s stylist and best friend. The daughter-in-law of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney, she has been great friends with Ms Markle since she moved to Toronto almost seven years ago to take up filming on Suits.

She joined Ms Markle and her mother, Doria Ragland, at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September when Ms Markle made her first public appearance with Prince Harry.

Another contender for chief bridesmaid role is Lindsay Roth, an old and dear friend of Ms Markle’s from university days who now works as a TV producer and author.

Ms Markle was chief bridesmaid at Ms Roth’s own nuptials in Greece last August. Ms Roth has praised her friend, who she calls Meg, in media interviews in recent weeks, describing her as down-to-earth, with “the same values and priorities’’ she held before she became famous through her TV acting role.

Lindsay Roth is old friend of Markle’s from her university days.

“She’s selfless, and that’s just a part of who she is and who she was raised to be,’’ she said, adding that Ms Markle dealt with any challenges on her life “gracefully, smartly, elegantly, positively, realistically and graciously.’’

British TV personality and socialite Millie Macintosh hit it off with Ms Markle when the American started spending time in London.

Millie Mackintosh is one of Meghan Markle’s London besties.

She comes from serious money — her family created Quality Street chocolates — but she made her name as a glamorous participant in the TV reality show Made in Chelsea.

Ms Macintosh and Ms Markle shared a picture on social media last year when they exchanged friendship bracelets, they have travelled together, and share fitness and beauty routines.

Ms Markle is also good friends with tennis superstar, mum and newlywed Serena Williams.

The pair have posted photographs of the two of them together on social media and Ms Markle was invited to Williams’ wedding several weeks ago, although could not attend due to filming

commitments.

Socialite Millie Mackintosh visited Melbourne in 2015 for the spring racing carnival.

The pair met in early 2014 at a charity football game and have become firm friends, with Ms Markle hosting discussions with Ms Williams on her now-closed lifestyle blog, the Tig.

Ms Markle’s estranged sister Samantha Grant, from her father Thomas Markle’s first marriage, is unlikely to get a gig as a royal bridesmaid. Ms Grant has made a number of unflattering and contradictory comments about her sister in the media, and is planning to write a book about her, calling her a “pushy princess’’ although she pleaded through the media for an invitation to the wedding.

Tennis star Serena Williams, with husband Alexis Ohanian, will most likely get an invite.

When it comes to Prince Harry choosing groomsmen, his brother Prince William is a shoo-in for best man.

Prince Harry fulfilled that role for his older brother when he married his fiancee Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

William is surely guaranteed to get the gig, which will include him organising the buck’s night

celebrations — known as the “stag’s do’’ in the UK — and delivering the best man speech at the reception.

Guy Pelly, a childhood friend of both Harry and William, is also likely to be a groomsman.

Nightclub tsar Pelly, a known party animal who was originally William’s mate, but who found more common ground with the party-loving Prince Harry would be a natural fit to accompany his friend down the aisle.

Pelly was among the group of mates who partied with Prince William in the Swiss resort of Verbier in March.

Tom Inskip, another old friend of Harry’s, would also make a good groomsman.

Prince Harry served as an usher at Inskip’s wedding in Jamaica in march to Lara Hughes-Young, and the group of friends have known each other for years.

Meghan attended the wedding with Harry, and knows “Skippy’’ and his friends.

Another party pal of Prince Harry’s, Arthur Landon, could be a chance for a groomsman’s gig.

Landon was with Harry at the infamous party in a Las Vegas hotel in 2012 when the royal went naked after losing his clothes in a game of strip poker.

The aristocratic young Brit is a millionaire, and the son of the Austrian-Hungarian Princess Katalina Esterhazy de Galantha and the late SAS captain Brigadier Tim Landon, who is known as Landon of Arabia due to his close links to Omani sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said.
