Kate reveals Prince George’s heartbreaking ‘loss’ of his ‘Grannie’, the Queen

Kate Middleton has revealed Prince George is handling the death of his great-gran differently than his younger siblings.

Prince George feels the loss of his great-grandmother more than his younger siblings will ever understand.

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, told how her eldest child George, 9, “understands (the) loss” of the Queen, while Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, understand “less so”.

She revealed how her children were handling the death of Queen Elizabeth II in a conversation with wellwishers outside Sandringham House, according to Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah.

A woman among the crowd, meanwhile, told the BBC that Kate, also the Duchess of Cambridge and Cornwall, spoke to the wellwishers about how her children were doing after the loss of the Queen.

“My daughter asked her how the children were doing, and Kate thanked her and said yes, they were doing well and they were being looked after at school,” the unidentified woman said.

“So that was a nice exchange.”

George, Charlotte and Louis began their new school in Windsor just as the Queen passed away, and Kate said they’ve already started making “new friends”.

“Kate said the children have settled in nicely with their new school and have new friends,” Lydia Bailey, who lives nearby in Heacham, told People.

Prince William said during an earlier walkabout outside Windsor Castle last on Saturday that they were trying to support their three children amid the intense outpouring of grief across the nation.

“He spoke about George, Charlotte and Louis, saying that they were trying to keep some sense of continuity for them at school and keep things as normal as possible,” Elaine Gee, 58, a teacher from Wokingham, added to the outlet.

While Prince Louis may not understand the degree of loss as clearly as his older brother, the couple’s youngest child still delivered a sweet tribute to his great-grandmother after her death.

Royal fan Banita Ranow said she heard the Princess of Wales tell children next to her what her youngest son Prince Louis had said about the Queen’s death, The Times reported.

“Louis said at least Grannie is with great grandpa now,” Princess Catherine reportedly said, as she welled up with tears.

The Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, died in April 2021.
