Is this the biggest Oscars social media stuff-up?
ONE brand tried to jump on the Oscars bandwagon with a supportive tweet — they couldn’t have got it more wrong.

IT’S hard to imagine there’ll be a more cringeworthy social media fail than this one at today’s 88th Academy Awards .
As celebrities started to arrive on the red carpet at the LA ceremony, one brand — LA-based lifestyle website Total Beauty — live-tweeted their favourite looks to their 51,000 followers.

When one very famous VIP arrived, they tweeted their approval, remarking that they never knew the celeb in question had a tattoo.
There was one problem:
We can’t believe we have to point this out, but that ain’t Oprah Winfrey — it’s former Oscar host and winner, Whoopi Goldberg.
Mixing up two of the entertainment industry’s most famous black women is a particularly unfortunate mistake to make, given the controversy around race at this year’s awards and the #OscarsSoWhite debate.
The tweet stayed up for more than 30 minutes, quickly gaining thousands of retweets (but not for the reason Total Beauty would have liked), and the company later offered a public apology:
Weâd like to apologize to Oprah and Whoopi, as well as everyone weâve offended. It was our error, and there are no excuses. Weâre sorry.

Not only has @TotalBeauty not deleted that bizarre Whoopi/Oprah goof, but it hasnât tweeted in 30 min. Maybe they just went out of business?
