Hollywood stars make Aussie school dropoff in mega-rich style

Lara Worthington, Isla Fisher and Natalie Portman are rocking wardrobes worth thousands on the morning school run.

The school pick up and drop off is becoming the new fashion runway for celebrities.

Stylish stars are turning heads in designer outfits — previously reserved for paparazzi-friendly events and red carpets — worth thousands of dollars.

Wearing $1500-plus Bottega Veneta boots, $2000-plus Wardrobe. NYC blazers and clutching Saint Laurent bags, Lara Worthington has been cutting a stylish figure on the school run.

The socialite’s ensembles have also included Acne Studio man-style blazers and Givenchy sunglasses, as well as Maison Margiela trench coats worn over a Jacquemus body-suit, a pair of The Row boots (designed by the Olsen twins), and $300 jeans by Californian brand, Feel.

Actor Isla Fisher sported $1000 red Gucci backless loafers, a Chanel purse – with a $3000-plus price tag – slung over her shoulder, and a maxi dress as she grabbed coffee after dropping off her children.

While in Sydney shooting Thor, Oscar-winner Natalie Portman sported an expensive floral sundress but on other occasions, chose far more low-key attire, in a similar way to Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky.

Known for her laid-back Byron Bay style, Pataky favours denim shorts, teamed with a breezy oversized shirt and sneakers.

In Melbourne, mega WAG Nadia Bartel wore $1000 Fendi logo sandals on her son Aston’s first day of school, while Rebecca Judd took a more relaxed approach while running errands in her activewear brand Jaggad, and Dannii Minogue did the drop-off/pick-up in a longline cardigan and sneakers.

Elliot Garnaut, co-founder of styling service Selected, said celebrities showed their true dress sense in everyday settings like taking the kids to school.

“Street style reigns supreme over the red carpet because it’s when we actually get to see he true fashion prowess of celebrities,” Mr Garnaut said.

“A lot of they do work with wardrobe stylists and I do that with my clients, but at the end of the day, a stylist can only take you so far – it’s the individual aesthetic of that celebrity (that’s seen) when they put on their own outfits day-to-day.

“It’s when we get to see their true style.”

Mr Garnaut said stars never missed an opportunity to make a statement through fashion, even if it was in less-than-glamorous settings.

“From the celebs’ perspective, they’re always looking to put their best foot forward because of the scrutiny and as such, the school run is no exception,” he said.

“I think the school run (outfit) is very reflective of the person’s vocation.

“These women will be going to work after that – they have jobs, so they dress appropriately for where they are going.”

Social media is also a source of inspiration for even the most stylish of dressers. Worthington told Vogue she was influenced by “girls off the streets”.

I scroll through Instagram and I screenshot things I love,” Worthington previously told Vogue. “I don’t know, I guess I get influenced by my friends or people – just cool girls that know how to pull an outfit together. It’s kind of inspiring, you know?”
