And users are no longer able to access any other part of the website as a mark of respect.

Prince Harry dashed to Balmoral this afternoon while Meghan stayed in London.

He was pictured leaving Aberdeen airport looking sombre with his head in his hand in a car, after the news of Her Majesty’s death was announced. He wore a black suit and tie.

Other senior royals have also swapped their smiling social media profile photos for official crests to honour Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royal Family’s social media profile changed to the United Kingdom’s royal coat of arms.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s account Kensington Royal changed its image to their royal coat of arms.

It had been an official portrait of the smiling couple.

And Clarence House replaced an official image of King Charles and Camilla with its crest, the Prince of Wales’ feathers.

All three accounts also shared an elegant black and white image of the smiling Queen, captioned with the official statement announcing her sad death.

Meanwhile the Royal Family’s website has also been made temporarily unavailable “while appropriate changes are made”.

Charles, Princes William, Harry and Edward, and Princess Anne were among those to have travelled to be with the Queen today.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Her Majesty passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Australian time.

A statement read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

King Charles III said in a statement: “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

“During this period of moorings and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held.”
