AUSTRALIA’s Governor-General Peter Cosgrove has had an audience with Queen Elizabeth overnight.
Sir Peter and his wife Lynne, Lady Cosgrove, met the Queen at her summer residence Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
Their meeting has enabled royal fans to see more of how Britain’s ruling monarch lives and enjoys her life.
The photograph also shows that the Queen has not changed the furniture, which includes two armchairs covered in a white fern-patterned fabric, and a mint-coloured fabric sofas.
The carpet also remains in the same green colour.
As she shook his hand, a photograph revealed she has an old-style silver iPod in the background.
Her music playlist is unknown.
The gadget sits in a docking station beside a sofa at Her Majesty’s Scottish Highlands retreat.
The monarch, 91, clearly favours traditional style as the room is lined with paintings of horses and antique wooden furniture.
But it’s clear she likes to keep up to date with technology.
The photos also revealed a set of white figurine candlestick holders, that are believed to have been installed by the Queen’s great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria more than 150 years ago.
The room also had an antique gold clock on a mantelpiece above a marble fireplace.
It is understood that the clock has been in the room for 40 years as it was seen in a previous photo of the Queen and Prince Philip takien back in 1976.
The Governor-Genreal and his wife were welcomed in the private room, where the fireplace had a log fire going.
Royal watchers also noticed a painting of Queen Victoria on one of the walls.
She is seen in the painting with her trusted ghillie John Brown.
It is believed to be a copy of an 1867 painting of the queen by Sir Edwin Landseer.
Keen observers could also see the Queen has a variety of magazines she keeps in the room, including the latest issue of Country Life, on a nearby wooden table.
