Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have been the star attraction at the annual G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, with the actor paying tribute to his new bride in a heartfelt speech.

Hollywood royalty is rubbing shoulders with some of Australia’s biggest names at the annual G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles.
Newlyweds Liam Hemsworth and singer Miley Cyrus have been the star attraction at the glittering bash.
In a crowd heaving with Hollywood royalty and some of Australia’s biggest names, the first public appearance of Mr and Mrs Hemsworth, who wed last month, stole the limelight.
Hemsworth, 29, was honoured for his work in films including The Hunger Games,
Independence Day and The Last Song, on the set of which he met Cyrus in 2010.
Actor Vince Vaughn said he was honoured to hand the award to his great “mate”.
But he joked that while he thought he was a good friend, it was “a little rich”.
“I wasn’t invited to the wedding,” he said to laughter.
“I’m just a guy who gave up his Saturday night with his kids to give Liam this award.”
Cyrus, 26, gazed smiling as he walked to the stage to accept his award: “F... - that was embarrassing. I don’t think I’ve ever chewed my face off as much as I just did.”
Hemsworth thanked his actor brothers for helping him get his start in the industry, but the most sentimental moment came when he thanked Cyrus.
“You are a sweet, sweet angel. I love you, you’re great,” he said, to which she called out: “Keep going...More... A little more about me.”

Earlier, Hemsworth spoke about his December 23 wedding to his long time on-off partner.
“It was great, it was a beautiful thing to go through,” he said of the wedding.
“We had a beautiful Christmas and New Year’s with the families. Such a
cool thing to go through and I’m just really happy.
“I’m trying to come back in the next couple of months. When I spend too much time away from home I get a bit itchy.”
Guests gathered at an event centre at Culver City, where they enjoyed food from celebrity Aussie chef Curtis Stone.
Celebrity chefs George Calombaris and Adriano Zumbo also attended the event, with Calombaris drawing comments on Instagam for his dapper appearance.
Hollywood stars Isla Fisher and husband Sacha Baron Cohen, Jamie Lee Curtis and John Travolta were also at the event, which is celebrating its 16th year.
Travolta, considered by many to be an “honorary Aussie” said the event was “probably my favourite” awards night.
He paid tribute to his “great friend” Olivia Newton-John, who was reported recently to be gravely ill from cancer and produced a video message to her fans to show she was well.
“She’s a US treasure and an Australian treasure,” he said. “She’s doing great. We talk all the time.
“She had to do her own video to tell everyone. But that’s the good thing with the internet is that she could go on and tell everyone the truth.”
Cradling a glass of white wine, Paul Hogan described himself as a “founding patron” of the event, which is now in its sixteenth year.
Among the other prominent Australians to attend were actors Josh Lawson, Jonathan LaPaglia, Daniel McPherson and Radha Mitchell.
