British actor Julian Sands missing after disappearing during California hike

Ocean’s Thirteen and Warlock star Julian Sands has been reported missing after he disappeared during a hike in southern California.

British actor Julian Sands has been missing for at least five days after going on a hike up southern California’s notoriously dangerous Mount Baldy.

The Ocean’s Thirteen and Warlock star was reported missing by his family on Friday, local time, with search crews unable to locate him due to severe storms and winter weather lashing parts of California.

“Around 7:30pm on Friday, January 13, a hiker was reported missing in the Baldy Bowl area,” San Bernardino County Sheriff Department Corporal Nathan Campos told People.

“A search crew was sent out, but because of weather conditions, they were pulled on Saturday. Helicopters and drones will be out there to continue to search, weather permitting.”

Police added they’d conducted 14 rescue mentions over the last month at Mount Baldy, as they urged people not to go hiking in the conditions.

The 65-year-old actor, who is based in Los Angeles, got his big screen break in the 1985 film A Room With A View opposite Helena Bonham Carter, and has since gone on to star in more than 150 TV and film productions.

Julian Sands is best known for the 1989 film Warlock.

His most widely-known films include Warlock (1989) Naked Lunch (1991), and The Medallion (2003).

He recently wrapped shooting on the black comedy feature film Seneca – On The Creation of Earthquakes, which co-stars US actress Marie-Louise Parker and British actors Tom Xander and Andrew Koji.

Sands has been married to US author Evgenia Citkowitz since 1990. The couple share two daughters.

Sands also has a son from his previous marriage to British journalist Sarah Harvey, who he was with from 1984 until 1987.
