The 26-year-old surprised fans and press when she appeared at the premiere of her new movie Personal Shopper overnight, looking cool and calm as she showed off the surprising new look.

But the snip doesn’t seem to just be for fun. It’s reported Stewart has lopped off her locks for her role in the upcoming flick Underwater.

Vulture reports the disaster movie is about a group of ocean researchers who “must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory.” Stewart has signed on to play the lead — reported to be a “jaded crew member”.

Stewart’s new look comes just days after she spoke about her first public relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, saying she “hated it that details of my life were being turned into a commodity and peddled around the world”.

“When I was dating Rob, the public was the enemy — and that is no way to live. It wasn’t this grand statement, ‘I was so confused! Now I’ve realised who I am!’ I have not been struggling,” she told The London Sunday Times.
