Jenna Ortega’s stunning Met Gala dress was made entirely of rulers

Jenna Ortega was a best dressed highlight at today’s Met Gala, and fans have since noticed an incredible detail in her stunning gown.

Star breaks major rule inside Met Gala

Jenna Ortega earned herself a spot on the best dressed list at today’s Met Gala, and eagle-eyed watchers have since noticed an incredible detail in her stunning gown.

The Wednesday actress, 22, attended fashion’s night of nights at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Tuesday, hitting the red carpet in a futuristic Balmain gown.

Upon first glance, it appeared Ortega was wearing a textured silver gown. However, the star’s strapless dress was actually made entirely of metal rulers.

Ortega styled her hair in old Hollywood waves and sported dramatic vampy make-up.

Balmain, meanwhile, released a statement about Ortega’s incredible custom dress.

“A poetical ode to couture and craftsmanship, her sleek sheath dress is crafted entirely from the metallic rulers used by pattern makers, placed vertically along the body to enhance the silhouette to create a bustier gown sculpted on her body,” the statement read.

Vogue this year opted for a theme of ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, with a dress code of ‘Tailored for You’.

The theme was reportedly based off the vision of author Monica L. Miller, who wrote the 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. According to the fashion bible, the exhibit will highlight “the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day.”

Lorde hits Met Gala red carpet in very racy look

Attendees have, more so in recent years, interpreted the theme to create one-of-a-kind, outlandish red carpet looks, making the Met Gala one of the most dazzling celebrity spectacles of the year.

But the fashion was a lot more tame at this year’s event.

Among the highlights were Halle Berry, who flaunted her fit figure in a daring sheer gown, Sydney Sweeney, who showed off her famous assets in a glamorous black beaded gown, and New Zealand singer Lorde, who opted for a near-nude top and skirt ensemble.

Fans were also treated to some big news on the red carpet, courtesy of Rihanna, who revealed she was pregnant with her third child.
