Sean “Diddy” Combs predicted he would be arrested for his wild parties one day in an interview that has resurfaced following his bombshell indictment.

The disgraced rapper-turned-mogul told Entertainment Tonight in 1999, 25 years before he was charged with sex trafficking and related crimes, “They won’t even give me a permit for the parties no more. They don’t want me to throw the parties no more, but we ain’t gonna stop. We gonna keep on having fun bringing people together from all walks of life.

“You’re gonna hear about my parties. They’re gonna be shutting them down. They’re gonna probably be arresting me, doing all types of crazy things just ’cause we wanna have a good time.”

He argued, “Whenever you bring up a different element into people’s environment, things that broaden people’s horizons, people get intimidated. It’s a lot of people out there that feel intimidated by it.”

Combs went on to insist that his social gatherings were about “breaking down racial barriers” and “breaking down generation barriers.”

He brought up that “Ron Perlman talking to Jay-Z” was not an uncommon occurrence at the famous fêtes, adding that the notoriety surrounding the soirées didn’t necessarily make him feel “special” or “like a bigger person”.

The interview comes 25 years before the music mogul’s arrest.

His parties featured plenty of A-list celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Donald Trump, Ashton Kutcher, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber and more. However, there is no indication that any of the stars in attendance were involved in any alleged illegal activities at the parties.

Combs, 54, was arrested last week at a New York City hotel and charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Though he pleaded not guilty, he was denied bail and remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

According to the indictment, federal agents discovered more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant, various narcotics and three AR-15s when they raided his Los Angeles and Miami mansions in March.

Prosecutors claimed the Bad Boy Records founder “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct” for decades, “creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in … sex trafficking, forced labour, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice”.

Per the indictment, Combs and members of his Combs Enterprise — including high-ranking supervisors, security staff, household staff and personal assistants — allegedly facilitated multiple “Freak Offs”: drug-fuelled sex parties.

During these gatherings, the hip-hop star allegedly “hit, kicked, threw objects at and dragged victims, at times, by their hair,” according to the indictment, which further claimed that he “subjected victims to physical, emotional and verbal abuse to cause the victims to engage in Freak Offs,” which he “often electronically recorded.”

The alleged assaults “often resulted in injuries that took days or weeks to heal”, per prosecutors.

The indictment continued, “Combs maintained control over his victims through, among other things, physical violence, promises of career opportunities, granting and threatening to withhold financial support, and by other coercive means, including tracking their whereabouts, dictating the victims’ appearance, monitoring their medical records, controlling their housing and supplying them with controlled substances.”

If convicted, the father of seven faces a minimum of 15 years in prison.

Combs is currently facing at least eight lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, rape and more.

Though he has denied the allegations, he did apologise for violently attacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura after a video of the 2016 beating was released in May.

The 38-year-old R&B singer was the first of Combs’ accusers to sue him; the pair settled immediately in November 2023.
