Meet the glamorous Italian princess rumoured to be the girlfriend of Prince Christian, the future future King of Denmark.
The eldest son of Crown Prince Fredrick and Princess Mary set heads spinning last summer after it was claimed he introduced Queen Margrethe II to 19-year-old Princess Maria Chiara di Borbone delle Due Sicilie.
It came after the 18-year-old prince, who will become second in line to the throne after his father becomes King, was pictured with the Princess, who goes by her middle name Chiara, at the Monaco Grand Prix in May.
Her closeness to Prince Christian in the image, followed up by a rare invitation to tea with his grandmother the Queen, prompted speculation of an “imminent engagement”.
It forced the influencer princess to issue a public statement on their relationship status.
“While we all enjoy dreaming of fairy tales,” she began.
“What truly matters is reality,” she added to deny any romantic connection.
A royal insider said Chiara was “presented” to Queen Margrethe over the summer, with Woman’s Day reporting that “Christian knew they’d hit it off”.
But Chiara “set the records straight” after the “unfounded rumour” spun out of control through royal circles.
“Prince Christian and I share a close friendship,” she said.
“However, some inaccurate information has been disseminated. At first, this situation made me smile; however, over time, this rumour has exceeded the limits of common sense and has spiralled becoming at odds with reality”.
Said with a hint of disappointment, she continued that it was “time to put an end to this rumour”.
“When important events will occur in my life, I will be happy to share them with you,” she added.
Princess Maria Chiara is the daughter of the other royal Charles and Camilla, the Duke of Castro and the head of the House of Bourbon Two Sicilies, a Kingdom in Southern Italy.
The House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies reigned over southern Italy and Sicily “for over 150 years” in the 18th and 19th centuries, according to her royal biography.
Born in 2005, Princess Maria Chiara, Duchess of Noto and Capri, lives between Rome, Paris and Monte Carlo. She made her film debut in Grace of Monaco with Aussie Actress Nicole Kidman. The 2014 movie, in which she played “Poem Little Girl”, remains the only acting credit to her name, according to IMDB.
She’s the younger sister of Princess Maria Carolina, 20, and they both go by their middle names and carry “Her Royal Highness” titles.
Since her childhood, she has attended official events with her parents to support the Constantinian Order of Saint George, which her father resides over as Grand Master.
She “loves fashion, modelling, photography, painting and singing, and attends a drama school to study acting and dramatic arts”, according to her official bio.
She is the World Wide Fund for Nature ambassador for France and Italy, and her Instagram profile highlights her work with animals, glamorous lifestyle and official family engagements as a European royal.
While almost her entire social media presence includes photos of herself with family and friends, she saved one rare post in September 2022, to mark the inspiration she saw in the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
“Our hearts go out to a great nation, the majority of whom have not known a world without the Queen as their monarch, and must feel truly bereft at the loss of such a great matriarch who embodied and personified the British spirit,” she wrote.
“Hers was a life filled with the love of her people, the Queen served her country for seventy years, displaying grace, dignity and charm that serves as an inspiration to us all of a life well lived in the duty and service of others.”
