The presenter received mixed feedback on social media following a controversial segment in which called King Charles and Queen Camilla “privileged inbreds”.

A presenter on Network Ten’s The Project has caused a stir after slamming King Charles III and Queen Camilla over this year’s official Christmas card, accusing the duo of looking like a “randy couple”.

Comedian Nick Cody launched into the eyebrow-raising segment on Monday evening, following the Royal Family’s release of new family photos to celebrate the holiday season.

While the Prince and Princess of Wales opted for a casual family portrait, the King and Queen decided on a picture of them dressed in robes and crowns, taken in Buckingham Palace’s throne room on Coronation Day.

“Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” the card read.

“King Charles and Queen Camilla released their official Christmas card, and wow, here it is,” Cody said.

“I just want to say what everyone in Australia is thinking right now — thank you.

“Thanks very much guys, it’s a wonderful festive treat that absolutely nobody asked for, and yet, you delivered.”

The presenter then suggested the card was in poor taste considering the cost of living pressures currently being faced by many.

“I love the brazenness of the card statement too,” he said.

“Sure, people in Australia and the UK are struggling to pay bills and put food on the table this Christmas. They’re doing it tough.

“But despite all that external noise and the fact you gave yourself a massive 45 per cent pay rise this year, you still found the courage to pose for this picture while wearing a $9.5 million hat.”

Cody then took a swipe at Charles’ “family jewels”, which he joked must be “especially large”.

“You two look exactly like a randy couple approaching me at a laneway bar at 3am about to say you’ve been watching me all night and really dig my vibe,” he said.

“To Charles and Camilla, from me, Nick, the colony’s other privileged inbred, Merry Christmas.”

The Project shared the segment to social media where it received mixed reviews from viewers.

One X (formerly ‘Twitter’) user labelled the episode “childish schoolboy garbage”.

“This bit is just cringe,” said another.

Another demanded he “show some respect and grow up”.

Others applauded the presenter.

“Nick Cody, you have a new fan — spot on,” one person wrote.

“I love this!”

Others took a broader stance, and called for the abolishment of the monarchy.
