A royal fan has shared details of her personal chat with the Princess of Wales as the royal family made their way into their annual Christmas church service.
Catherine made a rare comment about her cancer battle to people waiting outside the church telling them she’d found the public response “extraordinary”.
“The amount of people who have written this year is extraordinary and I think cancer just really does resonate with so many families,” she explained in footage taken at Sandringham, in England’s east.
“People like you are doing all the hard work out there. I’m hugely grateful.”
In footage obtained by the Daily Mail, one woman is heard telling Kate: “We’re all behind you, never forget that,” which prompted the princess to respond: “Thank you very much, [that’s] so kind.”
The outing comes just a couple of weeks after it was revealed Kate shared a candid remark about her health journey with pop star Paloma Faith at her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.
“I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had,” Kate admitted to the British singer.
The Princess of Wales shared a video statement in September confirming she had completed her course of chemotherapy treatment, six months after first announcing her cancer diagnosis.
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” Kate could be heard saying, as footage of her, Prince William, and their three kids (Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 6) spending time together in Norfolk was seen.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she said.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.
“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
