Prince Harry’s extraordinary claim after UK court appearance: ‘Worst fears confirmed’

“People would be shocked”: The prince has dropped a bombshell after an unexpected appearance in a London court this week.

IN LONDON

Prince Harry has alleged that he was stripped of his UK police protection in a bid to prevent he and his wife, Meghan, from leaving the country.

Due to the “highly confidential” information being shared relating to the Duke of Sussex’s security, a large portion of the case has been shared privately.

Speaking to the UK’s Telegraph after appearing in person for the two-day court proceedings in London this week, Harry said that his “worst fears have been confirmed” by what he’d heard.

“People would be shocked by what’s being held back,” Harry said, adding that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad.”

He also spoke of the moment he was told the decision regarding his security, describing it as “difficult to swallow”.

The Telegraph reports that Harry believes his taxpayer-funded security was withdrawn to try and stop he and Meghan from moving to the US after they announced they were quitting royal duties in 2020.

He has been embroiled in a legal battle with the UK’s Home Office, whom he is suing over its decision to remove he and Meghan’s around-the-clock taxpayer-funded security provision.

Ravec (the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures) instead proposed a “bespoke process” for Harry, which he has claimed showed him “different, unjustified and inferior treatment”.

However, in February last year, a High Court judge rejected the case and ruled that Ravec’s approach was not irrational or procedurally unfair.

He is currently appealing that decision.

Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, told the court in a closing statement this week that “there is a person sitting behind me whose safety, whose security and whose life is at stake.”

“There is a person sitting behind me who’s being told that he is getting a special and bespoke process when he knows and has experienced a process that is manifestly inferior in every respect,” she added.

“We say that his presence here and through this appeal is a potent illustration, were one needed, about how much this appeal means to him and family.”
