Meghan Markle may have been a relative unknown to the royal family before marrying Harry, but the Windsors certainly weren’t unknown to her.

Meghan Markle may have once been a relative unknown to the royal family, but they certainly weren’t unknown to her.
The former actress, 41, previously claimed to know very little about the royals before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, however, it seems she was knowledgeable about at least one member: Kate Middleton.
Back in 2014, Meghan wrote her sharp critique of the 2011 royal wedding of Prince William and Kate in her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, in which the Suits star seemingly mocked the lavish nuptials, the New York Post reports.
Named after her favourite red wine, Tignanello, Meghan’s online journal dived into topics such as food, fashion, health and travel, as well as touching on subjects of politics and philanthropy.
According to the Daily Mail, the resurfaced article reportedly noted the “endless conversations” surrounding the opulent ceremony – and declared that young girls should want to grow up to be mighty women in real life, not damsels swept up in a fairy tale.
“We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here,” Meghan wrote of the royal wedding.
“Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power,” she said, in reference to the animated superhero in the Masters of the Universe franchise.
“She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength,” she said.
“Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”
Rumoured return for The Tig blog
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex later denied to People that The Tig was shut down at the behest of the royal family ahead of her engagement to Harry in 2017.
Now, some speculate the California native could be staging a comeback for her site in the near future.
Earlier this year, the Duchess filed a document with the US Patent and Trademark Office to potentially reboot the blog.
The new version of the website would consist of interviews and articles about a wide range of subjects including cooking, relationships, fashion, interior design, lifestyle, art, health and wellness.
Just before the blog went offline, Meghan composed a farewell note titled, “The Tig: Farewell, Darling”.
“After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig,” she wrote, referring to the site as a “community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity”.
“Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world’. Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: You, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything.”
