Meghan Markle has been blasted as talentless by one of Hollywood’s most powerful figures after Spotify cancelled her podcast.
Jeremy Zimmer, the CEO of United Talent Agency, said he was not surprised Spotify has axed its deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Speaking to the news website Semafor at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in France, Zimmer said: “Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent.”
He added: “And, you know, just because you’re famous, doesn’t make you great at something.”
Zimmer, who co-founded UTA in 1991, has represented major stars throughout his career including Mariah Carey, Bryan Cranston, DJ Khaled, Chelsea Handler and Kevin Hart, the New York Post reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s contract with Spotify, estimated to be worth somewhere between $29 million and $37 million, was declared officially over in a joint statement from the streaming giant and Archewell Audio earlier this month.
It comes after claims last week that the Duchess of Sussex “faked” interviews for her Archewell podcast.
The Duchess of Sussex’s 13-episode single season of Archetypes featured several of her celebrity friends and looked to dissect the labels thrust upon women.
Podnews reported that some of the show’s interviews were conducted by producers on Meghan’s team and audio of her voice asking the questions was clipped in later.
