Meghan Markle has shared an emotional post to social media, revealing she’s suffered a “devastating loss” days before her new Netflix series premieres.
Markle shared news that her beloved adopted beagle of 10 years, who features in her new lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, has died.
In a heartfelt post, Meghan shared the origins of her decade-long companionship with a dog she rescued from a shelter in Canada in 2015 when he was given just days left to live.
“I swooped him up …. and fell in love,” she wrote.
Meghan acknowleged that fans who’ve followed her career since the early days would probably be familiar with the pooch, who made regular appearances on her pre-royal social media accounts and her lifestyle blog The Tig.
“If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him – and on The Tig too. He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom …. he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” she continued.

Meghan explained that Guy had suffered a “terrible accident” shortly before she moved to the UK to continue her relationship with Prince Harry, and at the time she was warned he would never walk again. She revealed that she and Harry would “drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end.”
Markle said that viewers will see Guy in her new at-home lifestyle and cooking series, With Love, Meghan, which premieres on the streaming platform on January 15.

“I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she wrote.
“I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”
Meghan finished the post by thanking her “sweet Guy” for “so many years of unconditional love.”
“You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
The tribute is the third post on Meghan’s newly-created Instagram account, following a post six days ago marking the start of the new year and one a day later revealing the trailer for her new series. Comments on all three posts have been switched off.
