Princess Catherine is “heartbroken” over Prince William’s decision to send Prince George to Eton College when he turns 13, a royal insider has claimed.

It’s believed the mum-of-three isn’t keen on same-sex schools such as Eton because she “absolutely hated” her time at Downe House, an all-girls boarding school in Berkshire, where she was allegedly bullied.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted taking a tour of Catherine’s former co-ed private school Marlborough College, leading to speculation that they may be sending their 10-year-old son there rather than Eton College.

In 1995, Prince William became the first senior royal to attend the all-boys Eton — Prince Charles and Prince Philip both went to Gordonstoun in Scotland — and younger brother Prince Harry followed soon afterwards.

A source has claimed the royal couple have spent “years” arguing over the idea of sending their children to boarding school, The Sun reported, quoting In Touch Weekly.

Princess Catherine “finally gave in” and agreed to allow her eldest son to follow in his father and uncle’s footsteps when he turns 13.

“Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition,” the source said.

“Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy.

“Plus, she’ll miss George desperately.

“She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.”

King Charles was sent to the tough boarding school Gordonstoun at age 13 and later referred to his time at the school as “a prison sentence”.

According to fellow school friends, Charles was also relentlessly bullied during his time at the school.
