Kate ‘considering’ upcoming high-profile royal appearance: report

The Princess of Wales has barely been glimpsed since Christmas, but that could change within a matter of just a few weeks.

Confirmation Princess Kate will not attend Colonel Review

The Princess of Wales is reportedly “considering” making an appearance at an upcoming high-profile royal event, more than five months on from her last official outing.

Kate, who has been out of the spotlight while undergoing preventive cancer treatment, is understood to be mulling over the prospect of joining her family to greet crowds from the Buckingham Palace balcony at this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony on June 15.

According to the UK’s Mirror, the princess will take part if she is “feeling well enough”.

The news comes just one day after the Palace confirmed Kate, who is colonel-in-chief of the Irish Guards, would not be taking part in The Colonel’s Review.

However, royal officials – who also confirmed on Thursday that King Charles would be at the Trooping the Colour – stopped short of ruling out Kate’s attendance for the main event.

The high-profile occasion, one of the biggest days on the royal calendar, is performed every year to celebrate the official birthday of the British sovereign.

The military parade is followed by an appearance by senior royals – and their children – on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Details of Kate’s condition and timeline for her eventual return to work have remained very scarce since she first revealed her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video statement in March.

However, earlier this week a report emerged that she had recently “turned a corner” with her treatment.

“It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” royal insiders told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl, adding that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ inner circle had “rallied around” them.

While it’s certainly a positive development, sources close to Kate have indicated she won’t return to work until September at the earliest.

“No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine,” one told the Daily Mail last week. “The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year.”
