Harry and Meghan urged to ‘break silence’ on race row with royals

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been advised to act amid the fallout of two royals being named in Omid Scobie’s book for their alleged involvement in a “racism” row.

Nightmare unfolds for Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been “urged to break their deafening silence” after two royals in a “racism” row were named.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to comment on Omid Scobie’s book Endgame which claimed King Charles and Princess Kate made comments about Archie’s skin colour, The Sun reports.

Scobie, who is widely known as Markle’s “mouthpiece”, has refused to apologise for his bombshell book and has since told the world he did not put in the names.

Blasted for peddling “bulls**t” excuses, Scobie blamed the shock naming on Dutch translation.

However, translator Saskia Peeters claimed the version she received had the names of the royals in “black and white”.

Amid a growing backlash against Scobie’s hatchet-job book, a senior Government minister praised the “dignity” and “grace” of Charles and Kate.

The King has put on a brave, yet visibly tired, face at the COP28 summit in Dubai where his doctor has rarely left his side.

The Princess and Prince William put on a united front on Thursday as they attended the Royal Variety Performance.

But Harry and Meghan, who quit the firm in 2020, have stayed silent.

However, a source close to the family urged them to speak out and defend their relatives, reports The Telegraph.

They said: “For the couple that talked about ‘death by a thousand no comments’, the silence at this point is deafening.”

Early copies of Scobie’s poison-filled Endgame published in the Netherlands suggested Princess Kate and King Charles were the two Royals who had made remarks about the skin colour of Harry and Meghan’s first child, Archie.

Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire on BBC’s Newsnight, the author said he didn’t feel the need to say sorry to the Royal Family, or Kate and the King.

Scobie said: “It’s not for me to apologise because I still want to know what’s happened.”

Scobie also complained his book had been “overshadowed” by the row.

He insisted: “A book that was so heavily vetted, legalled, Is dotted, Ts crossed and a book that I was extremely proud of, now completely overshadowed by an event that’s caused me a lot of frustration as well.”

Endgame – which has been pilloried by Royal experts – claims that Meghan named the royals she accused of raising concerns over the colour of Archie’s skin in letters to the King.

In the English versions of Endgame, Scobie says UK laws prevent him from naming names.

But in two passages in a translated version in the Netherlands, the legal excuse is missing and King Charles and Princess Kate are named as the royals involved.

Piers Morgan named the royal pair on his TalkTV show on Wednesday night, saying the names were already circulating abroad.

Other media outlets, including the Guardian, New York Times and New York Post also followed suit. And last night, just 55 minutes before the King delivered a speech in Dubai, the BBC named him, and Kate, Princess of Wales — despite previously saying they would not join news outlets in mentioning them.
