Megyn Kelly slams Meghan Markle, labels the Duchess a ‘fraud’

A popular US host has ripped into Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle brand labelling it a “fraud”.

Megyn Kelly was talking to the Paul Murray Live show on Sky News Australia when she tore into the new brand, American Riviera Orchard.

“This new lifestyle brand. You bake? I don’t believe any of that. I don’t get it and I don’t think people are going to be attracted to her ‘brand’.

“It’s all because it’s fake. At least Martha Stewart knows how to cook and set a beautiful table.

“What is Meghan Markle’s qualification to do any of this? This is all a fraud.”

The Duchess of Sussex announced her new venture this month on Instagram with a video of her cooking in a kitchen with a backdrop of white and pink flowers.

In line with Meghan’s alleged wish to be the next Martha Stewart, it was initially reported that the “Sussex shop” would be selling home and kitchenware such as linens, jams and preserves.

However, a full list reveals that the Duchess of Sussex is also looking to expand into skincare, make-up, luxury stationery and pet products, The Express reports.

The California-inspired brand’s unusual name alludes to Montecito, the A-list celebrity haven that has been the permanent home of the Sussexes since they left royal life in Britain amid the Megxit saga.

Billionaire playground Santa Barbara is sometimes referred to as the American Riviera for its warm climate and spectacular scenery.

The reason for “Orchard” in the title remains to be seen, society magazine Tatler reports.

Products listed for trademark application include hand soaps, body creams and cosmetics.

Known for her love of dogs after adopting two rescue pooches, Meghan has got her fans’ fur babies covered with non-medicated dog shampoo, collars, leashes and comfortable beds.

The fitness-loving Meghan’s list also includes meditation cushions and yoga bolsters, which are used to assist devotees of the practice in stretches and side bends.

The list contains everything needed for a plush and cosy household that has the Montecito aesthetic including room fragrances, throws, textile wall hangings and picture frames.

The meticulous Meghan, who famously worked as a calligrapher as a side hustle before marrying Prince Harry, obviously still has a love for the art form, with calligraphy pens, writing instruments and desktop organisers included on the list.

Stationery is also at the fore, with envelope seals, impression stamps, note cards, holiday cards, greeting cards and announcement cards making the list.

Ever the perfect hostess, the Duchess has also included printed place cards for table settings, cocktail napkins, gift bags, paper gift tags and wrapping paper.

With the inclusion of wine bags and wine carrying cases, Meghan also appears to be harking back to her lifestyle blogging days, when she had a blog call The Tig, named after the tiganello wine.

Known for her love of romantic picnics, the Duchess has also included picnic blankets, beach towels and beach blankets on her list of products for trademark application.

So far the American Riveria Orchard account, which does not contain any other posts besides the brand’s logo, has gained over 573,000 followers.

Celebrities who are following the account include Aussie supermodel and wellness guru Elle Macpherson, comedian Mindy Kaling, model Emma Heming Willis, the wife of Bruce Willis, and actress Minnie Driver.
