Matthew Perry’s will reveals actor listed one ex-girlfriend as a beneficiary along with his family

Details of Matthew Perry’s will have been revealed five months after the death of the beloved Friends star.

Details of Matthew Perry’s will have been revealed five months after the death of the beloved Friends star — and it appears one of his ex-girlfriends is named as a beneficiary.

In papers obtained by Page Six, the actor named his business manager Lisa Ferguson and TV producer Robin Ruzan as co-executors of his $US1 million ($AUD1.5 million) trust, even though he is reportedly worth $US120 million ($AUD182 million).

The declaration was created in 2009 during which Matthew listed his father, John Perry, and mother, Suzanne Morrison, as beneficiaries of his will alongside his half-sister, Caitlin Morrison, and ex-girlfriend Rachel Dunn.

Dunn’s inclusion comes as a surprise given the pair dated from 2003 to 2005 and were broken up for four years before Matthew signed the will on October 26, 2009.

However, in the actor’s memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing released in 2022, he wrote about the special connection he had with the former fashion student.

In the book, he revealed that he almost proposed to Dunn, but backed out.

“The relationship had deepened to the point where there was now a question I urgently needed to ask her,” he wrote.

“One day, I said, ‘I think we should stop kidding ourselves. We love each other,’ and she didn’t disagree. I did love her, very much.”

But he ultimately sabotaged their relationship and recalled going into “Chandler f***ing Bing mode” – his character on Friends – instead of popping the question.

Matthew also named his father, John Perry, as a beneficiary of his estate.

“I often think if I’d asked, now we’d have two kids and a house with no view, who knows — I wouldn’t need the view, because I’d have her to look at; the kids, too,” he continued.

“Instead, I’m some schmuck who’s alone in his house at 53, looking down at an unquiet ocean.”

He also described Dunn as “the ex-girlfriend of his dream” after they ended things on good terms shortly after Friends wrapped.

“There was no drama involved (in the break-up), just a commitment by Matthew to stay focused on his sobriety,” a source told People magazine at the time.

The actor dated many famous actresses during his lifetime, including Julia Roberts, Neve Campbell and Lizzy Caplan, but none of them were mentioned in the will.

He also dated Scream star Neve Campbell.

Matthew also indicated in his will that any children he had would not be entitled to access his estate. However, the actor did not end up having children.

According to the filing, the actor held $US1,030,000 ($AUD2 million) in personal property and will pass as part of his estate.

“All my personal and household effects, including, but not limited to, jewellery, furniture and furnishings, works of art and automobiles, together with any insurance on such property, shall pass as part of my residuary estate,” he stated in the legal documents.

The document also stated that Ruzan declined to be one of Perry’s executors. Ruzan met Matthew in 2010 when she was an executive producer on Celebrity Liar. Therefore, his longtime business manager Ferguson will be named sole executor during a hearing for the will set on April 10 in Los Angeles.

Matthew was found dead in the hot tub of his home in LA last October. An autopsy would later reveal he died from the acute effects of ketamine and drowning.
