Jennifer Aniston’s alleged stalker has appeared in court shirtless, wrapped only in a blue blanket, as he fronted up to a judge over allegations he attempted to break into the star’s mansion.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, was present during his arraignment at a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, appearing behind glass in a custody area.
At one point, Mr Carwyle placed his hand on the glass window, and made various facial expressions at the cameras.
He did not enter a plea or speak during the hearing.
Authorities allege Mr Carwyle drove into the gate of Aniston’s $33 million Bel Air estate on Monday while the Friends star was home, causing significant damage to the external property.
A private security guard thwarted Mr Carwyle, holding him at gunpoint in the driveway until police arrived and arrested him.
Prosecutors further claim Mr Carwyle had been harassing Aniston, 56, with a barrage of voicemails, emails and social media messages in the two years leading up to his break-in attempt.
Judge Keith L. Schwartz ordered Mr Carwyle proceed through the mental health court in a bid to determine whether he’s of sound mind to face felony stalking and vandalism charges.
He will remain behind bars, with Judge Schwartz setting Mr Carwyle’s bail at $US150,000. His next hearing will take place at the Mental Health Court in Hollywood on May 22.
“You are not to have any contact with Jennifer Aniston under any conditions,” judge Schwartz ordered.
Aniston’s lawyer, who was present during the hearing, declined to comment to media.
According to TMZ, police have been “reviewing social media posts” under Mr Carwyle’s name — including a Facebook page littered with “bizarre and rambling” messages referencing Aniston.
One post referred to the Emmy winner as his “bride”, while at least five others featured her full name, per the outlet.
Aniston is yet to comment on the incident.
The actress bought her sprawling primary home in 2012 for $US21 million.
