Hugh Jackman has thrown himself into promoting his charity work less than a week after announcing the shock end to his marriage.
Jackman emerged without Deborra-Lee Furness to call on his millions of followers to support an end to global poverty and back the upcoming Global Citizens Festival being held in New York City.
The popular live event is being held in the Big Apple this weekend, and Jackman has hosted it a couple of times as one of its original devout supporters.
Jackman and Furness have both appeared on stage at the event together in the past. It’s unclear if he will appear with or without her.
In his social media post, the Hollywood actor wrote: “Let’s go @glblctzn festival!!! This weekend in NYC - rain or shine. If you have tickets, have a great time in Central Park.”
Jackman, 54, also encouraged those who didn’t have tickets to watch the event live online which will feature performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ms. Lauren Hill and Jung Kook.
Other celebrities and high profile guests who are set to join the line-up on stage include Charlize Theron, Chris Rock, Daymond John, Eddie Izzard, Katie Holmes, Liza Koshy, Natasha Lyonne, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Vladimir Duthiers at Central Park’s Great Lawn.
It is the second time Jackman has emerged publicly since he and Furness announced their marriage of 27 years was over.
The news of their divorce sent shockwaves around the world as fans were left reeling and wondering what went wrong for one of Australia’s most enduring celebrity couples.
In the shock announcement, they released a joint statement confirming an end to their high-profile relationship.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they said.
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
The couple, who share two adult children, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, added that the announcement, released through PEOPLE, would be “the sole statement either of us will make”.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness,” they said.
“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
