A prominent Sydney celebrity couple have reportedly split just days out from their lavish wedding this weekend in Launceston, Tasmania.
Champion sprinter and former Big Brother star Katie Williams and her make-up artist fiance Georgia Hull were set to exchange vows in a three-day wedding extravaganza at Vaucluse House on Saturday, but the wedding has been called off.
“It is with a heavy heart, the decision was made to part ways despite a deep love and the utmost respect for each other,” they told Sydney Confidential of the break-up, adding that they have decided to “step away with kindness and gratitude for the time they shared together”.
According to the outlet, the writing was on the wall last month when family and friends of the couple were told their joint hen’s party was cancelled. The event was due to take place on January 11 at The Island, a floating beach club on Sydney Harbour frequented by the celebrity set.
Now Confidential reports that despite the pair trying to work through their relationship, they have decided to go their separate ways, moving out of the Bondi apartment they shared together.
Williams – who won the World Title in beach sprinting in Adelaide in 2012 and competed on Big Brother in 2021 – debuted her relationship with Hull in August 2021.
Hull – a popular make-up artists whose celebrity clients have included Samara Weaving, Sam Frost and Steph Claire Smith – was Williams’ first same-sex relationship.
They went on to get engaged on Valentine’s Day last year with Williams proposing as the sun set on Tamarama Beach.
“My dream girl said yes!!” Williams announced on Instagram at the time alongside stunning photos of the proposal and diamond ring. “My lover, my best friend, it was always you.”
Back in August, the couple revealed they were in wedding-planning mode.
“I have been busy trying to plan our own wedding (no date locked in as of yet) but getting the feelers out there on vendors, location, budgets and logistics,” Hull wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time.
In a separate post, Williams revealed they wanted a “non-traditional wedding”.
“Two brides. Two rings. Two days. A non traditional WEDDING in potentially less than 12 months,” she shared while reposting their engagement photo.
