Chris Pratt has found himself in hot water on social media after a resurfaced tweet of his talking about a sick pet went viral.

Back in 2011, Pratt tried to give away Mrs. White, a 15-year-old cat that he and then-wife Anna Faris shared, on a local community website and via a post on Twitter.

The hardworking cat was actually a retired actor, having starred as the beloved Snowbell in 1999’s smash hit kids movie Stuart Little. After the cat stepped back from Hollywood, and Pratt’s then-wife Anna Faris adopted her.

“Anyone in the LA area want a cat?” Pratt wrote in a since-deleted tweet that was shared via Gawker and Newsweek at the time. “Full disclosure, she’s old and prone to accidents. So sweet though.”

He faced severe backlash from Twitter followers and cat lovers alike for trying to give the pet up to any stranger who would take her.

The tweet has since resurfaced, and Pratt is once again facing backlash from angry fans.

“You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat their pets,” suggested one user on Reddit.

“Dude makes hundreds of thousands of dollars, bro can’t raise an elderly cat? What an absolute trash bag,” ranted a second.

A third tweeted: “Chris! Just make some accommodations in her last years! She depended on you!!”

However, not everyone was against Pratt, with some suggesting the actor had been responsible by trying to find a new home for the animal.

“At least he found the cat somewhere to go and didn’t just have it put down,” insisted one fan, with another adding: “If he just abandoned the cat because he couldn’t be arsed to take care of it then I’d get it, but if it had serious medical issues that he didn’t have the time to deal with given his active career than giving it up would probably have been the kindest thing.”

Pratt eventually found a home for his cat, which he revealed in a later post on his blog, in which he also addressed the fierce backlash at the time.

“Bottom line, and not that this is any of your f**king business weirdos, but my wife and I want to start a family and we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have an animal that s**ts all over the house. Sorry. If you are a parent you will understand. And if not, that probably explains why you have such a hard on for cats. Just sayin,” he worte.

“So what I used Twitter to give away our pet? I have some people who follow me and I thought maybe somebody would be thrilled to have my old cat,” he continued. “And guess what … Somebody was! Her name is Meghan and as far as I could tell she is a perfectly reasonable, sweet and friendly cat lover.”
