Bling Empire: New York star Lynn Ban died on Monday. She was 51.
Ban’s son, Sebastian, announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, less than a month after the reality star underwent emergency brain surgery for injuries from a ski accident, reports Page Six.
“I know she wanted to share her journey after her accident and brain surgery, so I thought she would appreciate one last post sharing the news to people who supported her,” he captioned a series of family photos from over the years.
Sebastian told Ban’s followers that his mum “was and always will be [his] best friend.”
“She always had a smile on her face even when times were tough during her recovery process. She was a fighter until the end and is the strongest woman I know,” he shared.
Sebastian gushed that Ban was “the funniest and coolest mum” who took care of their family “throughout her whole life.”
“Although she may be gone now, I will do everything I can to make sure she is never forgotten and for her life to be celebrated as it deserves to be,” he added.
Sebastian concluded his sentimental tribute by telling his mother that he will miss her “forever,” adding, “I love you more than life itself.”
Ban announced via Instagram on December 30 that she had been involved in a ski accident on Christmas Eve while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado, with her family.
“At the top of the mountain I caught a tip and face planted. Luckily I always wear a helmet, It didn’t seem that bad at the time and I was able to ski to the bottom,” she wrote at the time.
Ban shared that she decided to err on the side of caution and got “checked out by ski patrol for a concussion,” but they cleared her of any issues.
However, after developing a headache, the Netflix personality went to a local hospital for a CAT scan, where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed and immediately airlifted to a trauma centre.
“Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy with Jett by my side,” she wrote of her husband, Jett Kain.
Ban told fans she had a “long road of recovery ahead” but was “grateful and blessed to see the new year.”
