Anton Yelchin’s parents post heartbreaking tribute to their late son

THE Star Trek actor died last month in a freak accident in his own driveway. Now, his parents are publicly thanking fans for the support they’ve shown.

WEEKS after the tragic death of Anton Yelchin, the Star Trek actor’s parents took out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter this week thanking fans for their support.

“To all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life our dear son, Anton,” Irina and Victor Yelchin wrote.

“We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love for our son. He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much, Irina & Viktor Yelchin.”

Yelchin died last month in a freak car accident after his Jeep, which had been recalled for its “rollaway” risk, rolled backward down a driveway and pinned him against a concrete mailbox. He was 27.

Anton Yelchin plays Chekov and Chris Pine plays Kirk in Star Trek Beyond, which will be Yelchin’s first posthumous film appearance.
