Pregnant WAGs show off Brownlow bumps, new mums have night out

THE most joyous accessory on the Brownlow red carpet was the baby bump sported by Hawthorn star Jarryd Roughead’s wife Sarah. But baby Roughhead was not the only bump on show.

THE most joyous accessory on tonight’s Brownlow red carpet was the baby bump sported by Hawthorn star Jarryd Roughead’s wife Sarah.

In is a miraculous fairytale end to the year for the couple, Sarah is excited to be five months pregnant.

“I feel great. Five months and I feel beautiful,” she said.

“About a week ago, I just grew and I have a bump. It’s all good. I have a little less energy, but I’m pretty lucky.”

Hawks captain Jarryd said he couldn’t wait to become a dad. “I’m super excited,” he says.

It is less than a year since Roughead revealed he had been given the all-clear from doctors after a second battle with an aggressive form of skin cancer.

Sarah has never sought the spotlight but has always been a standout at the Brownlow and this year was no exception when she stepped out in a glamour gown by Kyha Simpson of One Day Bridal.

Jessie Murphy, wife of Carlton captain Marc Murphy, was also sporting a beautiful bump in a gorgeous off-the-shoulder beaded gown by Oglia Loro.

Annabel Gray, wife of port Power star Robbie Gray, showed off her baby bump in a star-embellished gown also by One Day Bridal.

New mums Alex Pendlebury and Mardi Dangerfield enjoyed a rare night out without their baby boys, with Alex opting for a dress by Jane Hill and Mardi turning to her favourite designer Georgia Young.

With many high-profile WAGS not attending this year, including Rebecca Judd, Nadia Bartel and Emma Hawkins, all eyes were on the new guard.

None were more striking than Ruby Keddie in an Art Deco-inspired crisp white gown from Sonia Cappellazzo.

Renowned for their red carpet creations, J’Aton dressed Jordan Ablett in an architectural nude gown with revealing asymmetric leg-baring hem.

Brit Davis, girlfriend of Joel Selwood, was also sporting some serious leg in a striking Jane Hill gown.

Romantic shades of red and pink were popular in the colour departments while crisp white also featured prominently. other red carpet trends included delicate beaded embellishment reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour which was juxtaposed with a striking modern trend of asymmetric hemlines and necklines.
