RICHMOND’s “first lady”, Brooke Cotchin, has fewer nerves to carry on to Monday’s Brownlow Medal red carpet.

The wife of Tigers captain Trent Cotchin was anxious last year ahead of the grand final, but now the 2017 premiers have bowed out of the finals, she can enjoy the night.

“Everyone is so proud but it is horrible seeing them all like that after getting so close,’’ she said.

“They’ll come back even stronger next season. I’m excited to be with Trent and support him.”

Cotchin has been working all weekend with her designer, Jason Grech, and stylist, Meggy Smith, after a last-minute decision to change gowns.

“It’s something a bit different,’’ she said. “I feel like people don’t go as out there anymore and play it safe.”

Cotchin said Mad Monday for the Tigers would be put off until after tonight’s event.

“Trent isn’t a massive drinker anyway; I had to shove him out the door,” she said.

Keeping it serious will be grand finalists Collingwood.

All-Australian Brodie Grundy is making his Brownlow debut with physiotherapist girlfriend Rachael Wertheim.

The couple intend to make the most of this special week.

“We were up all night after the game, it’s amazing,’’ said Wertheim, who will wear a custom-made dress by Effie Kats.
