AMY Poehler has sensationally derailed what was supposed to be a straightforward interview, injecting powerful messages about the state of the world and even asking “Are you kidding me?” after being questioned on Donald Trump.

As part of The Hollywood Reporter’s (40ish) Most Powerful People In Comedy list, the publication sent the Parks and Recreation star a short Q&A, including such basic questions as: “Sitcom you’d reboot?”

But what started as a fun quiz quickly turned into a heavy reality check.

Rather than play along, Poehler capitalised on the opportunity to bring up everything from pollution to gun control.

Here it is:

My most memorable heckler: “Who cares? The whole world is on fire.”

Dream product endorsement: “A giant whale just died in Thailand after eating 80 plastic bags.”

Guilty pleasure: “Let’s not forget 4,600 people have died in Puerto Rico.”

I’m funny because: “I don’t even know anymore.”

If I didn’t work in comedy: “I would never leave my house.”

College comedy audiences are: “Kids ae afraid that they will be shot in their own schools. What has happened to us?”

Sitcom you’d reboot? “Mr Rogers. I miss him. We need him.”

The funniest thing about the Trump administration is: “Are you kidding me?”

It was a refreshing break from the slick celebrity interviews we’re used to seeing — and Twitter loves her for it.
