Blackpink star Jennie Kim quit the K-Pop supergroup’s second show in Melbourne, mid-performance, due to illness on Sunday night.
The singer left the stage during Lovesick Girls, five songs into a two hours show, leaving her bandmates Jisoo, Lisa and Rose, to continue as a trio.
The band’s management team said in a statement on Monday: “We apologise to the fans who supported Blackpink and came to the venue, and we ask for your understanding.
“Jenny showed her willingness to push ahead with the performance until the end, but immediately took measures to ensure sufficient rest and stability with the recommendation of medical staff on the spot.
“Jenny felt sorry for not being able to stay with her fans until the end and expressed her intention to recover quickly.
“We will do our best to support Jenny to recover her condition as soon as possible. I ask for your understanding once again.”
Jennie was also absent from Blackpink’s soundcheck on Sunday. Rose told fans she was trying to rest for the main show.
Blackpink’s Sunday night show in Melbourne marked the second of two sold-out concerts at Rod Laver Arena.
Blackpink fans, also known as Blinks, swamped social media to wish Jennie a speedy recovery.
“Nothing matters in the whole world more than your health. Jennie, you’re so precious to us,” one Blink wrote. “Take all the time u need to rest. we will wait.”
Last week, Jisoo missed the band’s Japan dates after testing positive for Covid-19.
Blackpink performs in Sydney later this week.
In May, Jennie attended the premiere of The Idol at the Cannes Film Festival.
