Natalie Portman won’t be at this year’s Oscars because of her pregnancy
DESPITE being nominated for best actress for her role in the Kennedy biopic Jackie, Portman won’t be attending this year’s Oscars. Here’s why.

NATALIE Portman scored her third Oscar nomination this year but that doesn’t mean she’ll be attending the awards.
In a statement to Variety, Portman revealed she’ll be missing film’s night of nights due to being heavily pregnant.
The actor also gave Saturday’s Spirit Awards a miss where she was nominated for best female lead.
“Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards,” Portman wrote. “I feel so lucky to be honoured among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”
The 35-year old actor has received rave reviews for her portrayal as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis who was married to US President John Kennedy when he was assassinated in 1963.
Portman has already won best actress at the Academy Awards for her role in the 2010 movie Black Swan .
While working on the Darren Aronofsky directed movie, she began dating ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied who was the dance choreographer.
By December, 2010, Portman confirmed to PEOPLE her and Millepied were engaged and expecting their first child.
Their son Aleph Portman-Millepied was born in June, 2011.
The actor announced in September last year she was expecting her second child with the dancer debuting her baby bump at the Venice Film Festival.
As well as her Academy Award and Spirit nominations, Portman’s portrayal as First Lady Jackie also earnt her nominations at the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the BFCAs.
