The Wizard himself might’ve just had a vision almost like a prophecy. After taking his seat in the Dolby Theatre in LA, Wicked star Jeff Goldblum was spotted looking at pictures from his appearance on the 2025 Oscars red carpet.
Goldblum whipped his phone out and stared at an Instagram post of one of his red carpet photos that was taken before he was seated at the ceremony with his wife, Emilie Livingston.
The couple walked the red carpet earlier in the evening before the official show started at 7pm local US time.
Goldblum wore a cream-coloured suit jacket over a patterned floral shirt with a lilac scarf, a black bow tie and an orchid on his lapel. He also rocked black glasses and black pants.
Livingston, 42, went to the Oscars in a bejewelled metallic gown with floral patterns. She and Goldblum held hands on the carpet as they smiled and posed for pictures.
At one point, the couple stopped to do an interview with ABC’s On the Red Carpet and Goldblum talked about being excited to attend the Oscars.
“I’m looking forward to being here and enjoying ourselves and celebrating the community and all the people in the cast. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are unbelievably fantastic and the incomparable Jon M. Chu made a fantastic movie,” said Goldblum.
“I just love that people seem to love the movie,” the actor continued, adding that he hopes people will see Wicked “for years to come” just like The Wizard of Oz.
Goldblum also said he’s “lucky” to still be able to go to the Oscars. He was previously nominated for an Academy Award for his live action short film Little Surprises in 1996.
“It always feels like the first time for me, and to see it through Emilie’s golden eyes makes everything more,” he said.
Goldblum played the Wizard in Wicked. He will reprise the role in Wicked: For Good, which comes out in November 2025.
